How does solar work?
Solar panels function by absorbing the suns’ rays and generating direct current energy (DC) and then converting it to usable alternating current energy (AC) through the microinverters. AC energy is then distributed throughout the home which is what powers on your appliances. Any extra energy that isn’t used will then be passed on to the grid. Do I need an electric provider when I go solar?
When a homeowner transitions to solar energy, an electric provider is still required in order to enroll in a buyback program. The buyback program allows homeowners to sell any excess energy that is transferred to the grid from your solar system. These credits can be used to buy back any energy you might need during the nighttime when your solar system isn’t producing energy or during peak hours when your energy use is at an all time high.
Do we need batteries with our solar panels?
You do not need additional batteries to power on your solar panel system. Every solar panel contains a microinverter located beneath them which allows them to convert the energy and supply it throughout the home. If you’d like extra protection against outages we do recommend adding TESLA Powerwalls to your solar system package. Powerwalls are a great way to establish independence from the grid and gain outage security. For more information on TESLA Powerwall visit:
Will my panels generate energy when the sun isn't shining at its' highest potential?
The amount of power generated is reliant on sunlight. This means that solar panels will still produce slightly less on cloudy days through indirect sunlight.
IS THE SOLAR TAX CREDIT A CHECK OR A REBATE?
The solar tax credit is a rebate meaning you will not get a check for the amount of solar tax credit that exceeds your tax liability. The good news is that you’re able to claim any unused solar tax credit for the next 5 years.

WHY DID I RECEIVE AN ELECTRIC BILL ALONGSIDE MY SOLAR PANEL SYSTEM BILL?
This could be due to two major reasons. Either your system is not functioning properly, or you could be consuming more than your panels can produce.
If you believe your system has stopped working we recommend you verify if any panels are inactive through the enphase app. If there is a problem with your system you can go ahead and contact our office for further assistance. In the case your system has been functioning and you received a light bill this could mean you have been overconsuming energy. This could be due to reasons such as implementing new appliances to the home, building a pool or increasing/decreasing the temperature from the thermostat for long periods of time. If you’d like to know how much energy your appliances have been consuming we do offer PEG Monitoring. For more information on PEG Monitoring please visit:
