Going Back in Time

Daylight Saving Time is coming soon...

Daylight Saving Time is coming soon...and yes we are all sad to be losing an hour. On a sunnier note (pun intended) the later sunsets can help keep your nightly usage down.
Though we are consuming more, skipping forward an hour and gaining “longer” days is still a great benefit. It means there will be solar energy being produced at the time you need it. During the evening when you are getting home from work, having dinner with your family, or binge watching shows, you can consume the energy your solar system is producing at that moment instead of pulling energy from the grid.

So smile this Daylight Saving Time, knowing that you are getting the most out of your solar system!

How does the new season affect you system?

10/11/2019

The new season falling in means a change in weather and a change in your system’s production. Why? Well, the autumnal equinox signifies a change of tilt in Earth’s position to the Sun. In other words, the Northern hemisphere of the Earth will be facing away from the Sun.

This is the time of year to expect the days to be gloomy more often rather than mostly sunny. You might see a decrease in your production; but before you get frightened, remember the drop of temperature is here to make those scary doubts disappear.

When our city experiences nice weather, you do not need to crank up the air conditioning nor turn on the heater. You are now given the opportunity to let the fresh breeze in your home. This will establish a balance between your system’s production and home usage for the month. Let’s welcome the season of falling leaves, sweater weather, and the start of negative credits accumulating in your energy account.

If your looking into going solar there's quite a few things to look into, main one and most important of course is pricing.

How does PEG Energy compare to other solar companies price points? Thousands lower! A common misconception is "that we are presenting the price after the 30% tax credit", which is completely false. We generate a custom solar design & quote that accurately depicts Total system cost, Tax credit amount, & finally Net system cost. The image below is the the cost for a 9.6 kW system size, which is the equivalent of 31 panels.
Picture
The Total Loan Amount or Retail price for a 9.6 kW system from PEG Energy is $23,064, yes that number is significantly lower if you've quote shopped. To compare, the price range you might see from other solar companies for the same system size is $31,713 - $43,245. Yes our price is lower and no we don't use "cheap" equipment, we recommend & present the best the solar industry has to offer. Our ultra premium recommendation is Solaria, which significantly beats panels that are often presented as "the best" which are LG, Panasonic, & Mission. Our price for a 9.6 kW system using Solaria panels is $25,466. Which is still thousands lower than the red price points above that you can expect from other solar installers, oh and yes that is the total system cost.

Don't just take our word for it, here's a review straight from our Energysage profile.

Picture
We've helped hundreds of smart quote shoppers in Laredo, San Antonio, Corpus, McAllen, Mission, Edinburgh, & the rest of South Texas! Homeowners often quote shop 3-10 times, and yes time and time again we're still the best price. Honestly, we are just fair and want to make sure we offer the best pricing for the best savings guarantee!

Battery Upgrade for your Solar Panel System

1/4/2019

The cherry on top to completing your solar panel system would be adding a back up battery that will protect your home or business in the event of an outage. A battery works by storing energy for later use during a power outage, or cycling your energy for maximized self consumption in the evening or night. In contrast, with off-grid systems, multiple batteries come into play to completely back up your property  as  you wouldn't be relying on solar net metering.  An existing or newly installed solar system running on inverter brands such as SolarEdge or Pika Energy are compatible and ready for a battery upgrade.

Do I need a battery for solar?  While it's not required to have a battery to go solar, it's an attractive option and highly recommended for clients looking for maximum benefits. Common reasons for a battery backup include protecting critical necessities such as internet, light, communication, medical and accessibility devices. In addition, a battery upgrade can highly complement an EV charger if you have an electric vehicle such as a Tesla by providing power from your own system.

Solar has become an affordable option and a great opportunity for any individual aspiring to experience the independence of harvesting their own energy. The multiple benefits of going solar are- being able to own your own energy rather than rent it, turning an expense into an asset, energy security for both the short and long term, and unparalleled savings!

The value of going solar takes action in different aspects, from financial to environmental. According to Conserve Energy Future there are ten strong reasons why solar energy is still a top choice for homes and businesses. One of the main reasons why businesses are now considering going solar is because of the amount of savings they are gaining. For example, on average, the process of installation of a solar system is cheaper compared to the installation of a grid electricity, as well as the fact that once the solar energy system is installed, the solar power harnessed operates by itself with no additional costs. This increases awareness throughout businesses that want to invest and work on long term projects with high return of investments.

Another reason why solar has so much value is that it creates a cleaner environment and encourages our society to advance to a self-sustainable future through renewable energy. This has become such an important issue to address in our communities as we have seen how global warming is affecting not only our environment but also the way we live.
This is why the value of going solar has become a better innovative solution. On the contrary, other traditional forms of energy have caused harm with the accumulation of carbon emission into the atmosphere.

Solar Net Metering

7/23/2018

How does solar net metering work?
When a home owner first gets a solar panel system they have to check if their current electricity provider currently provides a buy back program, which allows solar owners to both sell and buy electricity. Some electric companies have  different rates, Green Mountain for example, provides a equal buying and selling rate.

Why is it important to have the same buy back  rate?
Because in order for the system to make money for you in the form of savings electric bills, companies must be willing to both buy and sell at an equal rate to maximize the savings a home can produce with solar.

Just like the stock market you are buying and selling, during the day your system is over producing and selling back to the grid. Then at night time you are buying back, and we custom tailor your systems in order to sell more energy than you buying back and that is the reason why you are able to receive negative electric bills, which results in savings.

When a battery is installed, net metering works as putting some energy you use into your home, other you store in the battery and the rest you sell it back to the grid. This is to ensure when in the event of a power outage your battery kicks in and is able to back up your energy usage during it.

Financing a Solar System and its Interest Rate.

7/5/2018

Financing has allowed us to further excel the progress of innovation or simply getting the things we want but can't right away afford in cash. Some of us may agree if you can't afford it, then you shouldn't get it. Well that holds true in somethings, it doesn't in others. We all love our cars yet all we really use them for is to get from point A to point B. Do you really need to finance a expensive car to address that problem? Probably not, but when it comes to our electric bills. Financing a solar system can largely benefit you.
Picture

Interest Rate for Solar

There are three main things to consider when it comes to the monthly payment of your loan: interest rate, principle and interest per payment. Our solar clients typically benefit from an interest rate of 4.99%; however, with excellent conditions that could  go down to as little as 2.99% according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Even on the high end of the interest rate spectrum which could be up to 8% is it still worth it? The answer is yes, why is that? Well compare that to the current interest rate that you are currently paying for your electric bill. That's 100% interest, no principle, no ownership what so ever. Not only would you benefit from being able to produce your own energy, you get to own that system and that is largely a great return on investment. Our tailored solar systems are priced lower than your per month electric bill. How soon do you start saving? As soon as you say yes to solar. Everything is Powered by the Sun

There are many ways to create energy we use in our
everyday life. However, all those methods of creating     energy are ultimately possible because of the Sun. All the energy sources we use are solar power, oil,  coal  and natural gas it's just old decayed plants and  swamps that originally got their power from the Sun  using their leaves and photosynthesis.

Picture

Even things like wind turbines are solar powered because the wind blows when the Sun heats up the atmosphere unevenly.

In the case of hydroelectric dams, the water got to the lake on the high side because of rain from the clouds and clouds a result of water that has been evaporated by you guessed it the Sun.
Picture

As humans we are even solar power because we get our energy from plants or animals that ate plants which again get their power from the Sun. Coal, Petroleum, Natural Gas, Hydro, Nuclear, Oil, Wind and Solar are the main ways we are currently producing energy. These methods are indirectly getting energy except for Solar. Solar is the most direct way of getting energy from the sun and is a positive alternative to better our environment.
